As we've just heard Honda has announced a recall for a potentially
defective driver's side air bag on Accord sedans.

So are they trying to tell us they use a -different- driver's side air bag
    in the Coupes?

They're probably just telling us that they are recalling the Sedan's
    airbags, for a safety concern.

It's my guess that there will be additional information related to the
recall in the next couple of days. If you have a coupe or sedan in the
model years mentioned in the recall, I advise you to visit a Honda
dealership to see if they have a written report that they can give you.
It's possible that they did make use of a different type of air bag in the
    coupes.

  4. In case my local mail delivery has been delayed or the recall letter
misrouted, will someone who's already received a notice please post
the model years affected by this recall? TIA.

  8. Since I got tired of watching you post this 4 times in a row, I thought
I'd mention hondacars.com. You can go there and find all the
    information you need.

Further, if you sign up for the Honda OwnerLink, they'll have your
VIN*--and OwnerLink will tell you if your car is under any recalls.

*VIN, not VIN number. A VIN number would be a vehicle identification
    number number--which is stupid.

Here it is, straight from the horses mouth:
Driver's Airbag Protector Kit 2004-05 Accord Sedan (L4)

    AFFECTED VEHICLES

    .. Accord Sedan (L4): 2004 - ALL

    .. Accord Sedan (L4): 2005 - From VIN 1HGCM5.5A000005 thru 1HGCM5.5A023044

    From VIN JHMCM5.5C000001 thru JHMCM5.5C005196

    From VIN 3HGCM5.5G700001 thru 3HGCM5.5G700722

In NHTSA R&D testing that subjects vehicles to conditions more severe than
current crash-test standards, a 2004 Accord experienced a tear in the
driver's airbag during deployment. Even though the Accord complies with all
current requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No.208,
"Occupant Crash Protection," Honda is conducting a recall to resolve NHTSA's
concerns and minimize any potential risk to motor vehicle safety.
