My son has a 2002 Honda Accord. He was trying to rock the car out of the snow
the other day, and the 2 left side tires came off the rims. Any idea what could
    cause this?

    Thanks

he probably hit the curb.. we have a civic and my daughter says the tire
just went down.. i took it home after changing the tire and found the
rim bendt, and a 1/2 dollar size hole in the sidewall of the tire.. she
says she never hit the curb... i guess the curb hit her....

Yepper... others have said it. Took the corner too fast for the condition
and smacked the curve. After the car smacked into the curve, you son may
have tried to rock the car out of the snow but rocking the car did not
caused the wheels to fall off...

Did someone lower the tire pressure in an attempt to get more traction?
