Hi I have got a new Honda accord V6 .It seems when i acclerate or put
pressure toomuch on the gas pedal it misses and then after a second it
again picks up.Is there any protective mechanism of not going up in the
rpm or its just coz its a new car.

    thanks

Nothing like that happens with our Pilot -- so I should imagine it should
    not with your Accord.

  5. I doubt that it's the transmission--the factory corrected that problem
on the newer 2004's. Put a few hundred miles on the car. If the
problem persists take it back for the dealer to check. I have a 2003 V6
and have not had anything like that, and no transmission problem either
although I will bring it in for the recall.

If you are accelerating from a slow speed, i.e. a "Hollywood stop", and you
step on the gas quickly, the transmission seems to get lost and will
hesitate. It appears that the transmission will not shift down to first gear
until the car is at almost a complete stop. This is meant to conserve fuel
but creates that shift hesitation. I experience the some effect when I don't
stop completely. You can step harder on the gas and cause the transmission
to downshift quickly and resolve the problem (or stop completely) It appears
that the moderate application of throttle causes the most grief. Let me know
if this correlates to your observations.

Hi Larry, That exactly what is happening, infact i took my honda to the
dealer and i think i was mistaken its just that when i accelerate the RPM
meter reaches upto 4-5 and then comes down just to come in the next gear
and then i used to take my foor off the gas pedal. They checked it up and i
think its sorted out now.But yes as u explained when u slow down same
    things happen.

The recall has nothing to do with this symptom. (Take it back to the
    dealer for service.)

The recall is solely for second gear teeth breaking, causing tranny
lockup, skidding, potential crashing. It looks to be an extremely
rare occurance due to overheating of those gears, and is caused by
    inadequate oil flow.

My '03 V6 Accord does not seem to have any symptom like that.

    Another transmission question – sorry

Right at the morning for about 1 mile transmission shifts rough than
very smooth, mention that to the dealer but they want to have car over
night without since they cannot repeat problem. Tick transmission
fluid, levels are ok and looks new as it should. Honda doesn't
provide rental? Was it always like that?

Accord v6 600miles on it, still breaking in? temos are in 70F at the
morning, also accts the same way if not driven for at least 8h.

My Lexus had a built in mechanism that made shifting different in the
morning, to help heat up the transmission, I believe. The car would
hesitate shifting at its normal point and shift at higher rpms.

This sounds like symptoms from the drive by wire. All cars are getting
them and the dealers are acting like it's a sales point. (Perhaps it is.
I found the hesitation it causes quite annoying. It's real obvious while
driving through a parking lot. The car revs before changing to the lower
    gear.)

Could someone enlighten me as to its benefits? We just traded our Lexus
in for the 2004 Acura TL and I about choked a cow when he mentioned the
drive by wire like it's a good thing!

    Yes, we have no rentals.

No free loaner at Acura either.

However, if your car needs a tow due to warrantable failure, Honda
will tow it. Overall a bettter deal.
