My A/C in my honda 2002 civic SI really smell bad. That's not my first car
with a/c so i know what's a/c suppose to smell like. My mom has an honda
accord too, and doesnt smell like that..

Is this something normal? It only stinks when I turn it on, after a few
    minutes, the smell goes away.

Also, is it possible to turn this anoying A/C turning on automaticly? I
know it's better to defrost windows, but ...

Thanks and sorry for my poor english!

With the fresh air fan running, try spraying Lysol into the fresh air
intakes, usually located in front of the windshield behind the hood.
Also, try to get in the habit of turning your a/c off about a mile or so
from home so the fresh air has a chance to dry the coils. What's making
the musty smell is mold that's allowed to grow on the wet coils left
from using a/c and the Lysol will help to kill the mold and make the
    coils smell nicer.

Yes, it's normal. A lot of other car models also have the same problem. It
helps a little to turn off AC and blast fresh air a minute before arriving
    at your destination.
Yes, search this newsgroup archive in groups.google.com for something like
"turn off AC" and you'll find a code sequence to do so.

  5. I hear that some newer cars have catalytic converters which are sensitive to
cheap gasoline. If the smell resembles that of rotten eggs, switch to a
    higher quality gasoline.

    On a similar topic.

My 99 Accord has a funn smell when I run plain cold air from the
outside. It smells fine with AC or with inside air. This is not a
problem in winter, and replacing cabin filters didnt help.

  7. What does "funn"y mean: musty, mildewy or err, mousy? Mice love to build
nests in air plenums and even the fan cavity.

Get under the car and open up the evaporator drain. It is probably
    blocked...
