    Hello,

This problem occurs only when going uphill and only when I stop in the
middle of the hill (because there are cars ahead of me) and then
accelerate. When I release the brakes the car lurches back a bit and
then when I accelerate, the tires screech a lot before moving forward.
Any idea what could be causing this?

    Thanks,

Different car with different settings and different transmission.

Either get your foot on the gas (without flooring it, will take practice),
start giving it gas with right foot while slowly letting out the brake with
your left foot, or slowly give it gas while releasing the hand-brake.

    don't they have HANDbrakes anymore?

Or don't they teach how to use a HANDbrake to hill-hold?

Probably not. Look at the bright side, we no longer need to double
    clutch.......
