So I have some rust forming on some
spot welds on my 2000 Odyssey. The
dealer is saying this is environmental
    and not a paint defect.

Isn't the purpose of the paint to protect
    you from the environment?

Plus these welds are in relatively protected
spots. The vertical part of the doors and the
    horizontal part of the hatch.

I think he claims pollutants can collect in the
depression. But next to some of those welds
I can see some paint on other welds bubbling.

The 3 year warranty ends in another 2 days.
I do have their rust protection.

He suggests I maybe wax it or use some touch-up
    paint.

    Any opinions?

    Just to clarify,

the spots where the welds are in the
areas that would not be exposed when
the doors are closed. ie: no stone chips,
no bird droppings and for that matter
    probably no rain.

Sure sounds like a paint defect to me. Escalate and raise ****.
Unfortunately that seems to be one of the few things that works!

Have them do it, and make sure they get rid of the rust by replacing the
door panel or sandpapering it off. Doing it yourself does not get rid of the
rust, and will reappear again in a few years.
