that sounds like a great deal. the non vtec model is 160HP. the canadian or
JDM model, SRV I believe is the F20 motor, which is nonvtec higher
compression and probably 190hp (not too sure, I live in the states, no SRVs
    here).

your 1990-1993 accord is very compatible with your prelude,
engine/tranny/radiator/suspension, basically all chassis parts are
    interchangable with one another.

you could always get the JDM H22 motor for more power, around 210HP and LSD
transmission will really put a kick in the butt on your prelude. that motor
is also a direct BOLT IN, and plug in. you just need to run 4 wires to the
    ecu.

    good luck and great find!

  8. Take the time to teach your wife how to drive a stick. Then you won't
have to base your decision solely on her ability to drive it. If I had
the space and insurance was not too expensive, I would keep both.

  10. If the car has a known history of being well maintained, then you shouldn't
    worry too much.

:) sorry. NO. CA is our home state, but we are stationed on the
East Coast :). The car is bought on the East Coast.

Back home, I sold my trusty corrolla 130k mile-station wagon to my
sister in law (my wife's sister). It is also expected to hit at
least 250,000 which will probably take another ten years the way that
    sister drives.

Regarding which car I am keeping: I must tell ya, I go back and forth.
I almost wish I could keep both. Let us just put it this way: when
I am in the Accord, it is such a sensible car and so comfortable that
I think it makes no sense to keep the sports car which only I can
drive and which gets my wife car sick when she rides in it. The
suspension is rougher on the prelude and my stick shifting is not
quite silk like. The accord is comfortable and my wife does not get
car sick. Accord only also cost $900 vs. much more for the Prelude.
Accord is more me because I am that kind of practical person; I am not
a flashy sports car kind of guy.

Yet, on the on other hand: when I drive the Prelude, I start thinking
maybe it isn't so bad to just indulge a little :) If it is indeed
something I enjoy, why deprive myself of this little pleasure in life?
It is really a cool car with a great sound system and great
    everything.

Bottom-line: If I had to guess right now, I think I will end up
keeping the Accord. It is just the sensible thing. However, there is
a part of me that does like the Prelude and would like to have fun
    driving it time to time.

Like someone said: Maybe the thing to do is to fix up the paint chips
and selling it for a large profit. Personally, I can't see my letting
the Prelude go at an easy price. I have seen 1992 Preludes on the
    internet with 136K for $12,999. Yes! Read: $12,999 for a 92 Si! I
called that particular dealer and asked how long he expects the car to
sit on the lot: "2 weeks tops!" was the answer. This means that good
preludes that are clean can fetch a premium.

I am not a money mungerer, but I think for it to be worth it to give
up on the Prelude, I will have to get at least 6 to 7.5 thousand
dollars. I don't even think I should feel guilty for thinking that
way. This country is a free enterprise country and I should be able
to sell the car for whatever price I can get people to pay for it.

If I do sell it for about 7.5 thousand dollars, I will end up with a
sensible Accord and have some money in my pocket to justify giving up
the Prelude. All Kind of entrepeneur like! Who knows. If this deal
works out, I may end up snatching up more good deals on the lemon lot
at my Military Base. I guess it is just another perk of being a
resident of a military base :)

    cheers.

p.s. I don't know what I was thinking when I previously said that the
paint chips were dime in size. They are actually pea sized at the
biggest (1). The others are just BB sized from small road rocks.

    thx for all the replies.

I may be mistaken on the 190 HP. It may be lower. I didn't mean to
misrepresent. I just got the numbers mixed up. :)

I think I had the 190 in my head because the Vtech is 190. I have the
Si and it is not 190. Probably quite a percentage lower in HP.

It none-the-less has plenty of oomph for passing and for acceleration
    after 60 mph.

    cheers.

Yeah, and he's got a 1988 Ford Escort he expects to sell for $7999
    anyday now. :)

Joking. But even though the prelude is a great car, and the 92's are
sharp, that guy ain't dealin' straight.

It was a beautiful day and I took some pics of the Prelude. I plan to
use some of the photos on the internet on cars.com.

I am going to see how much interest there is in this car. If I can
get a good price for it, I will sell it.

Otherwise, i like it too much to part with it.

check out the rims and the sun roof and the rear spoiler. It looks
    hot!

I agree, have her learn to drive stick, but I wouldn't teach her, or use
my car. I'd pay to have someone else do it.

I tought my wife, in my car, and they were biggest fights we ever had :)
