Can anyone offer an opinion on Honda Roof Racks?

I am considering the purchase of a canoe which I intend to carry on my 98
Accord. The racks from Yakima and Thule are pretty expensive($400+), so I
thought about finding a used set from Honda. The factory always knows better
right? The total weight I am considering would be around 75lbs.

Any other ideas for an inexpensive solution?

If you only want to transport the canoe on the roof then instead of the
roof rack get a car top canoe carrier available at any place that sells
canoes. It consists of four foam pieces that attach to the gunwales of
the canoe and rest on the roof and some straps to secure the canoe.
    Should be less than $50.

I thought about these, but won't they scratch the paint if the car isn't
perfectly clean? One would certainly pick up dust on the canoe trip.

I haven't got a canoe to put on my own cars yet but my FIL has used
these carriers quite a bit and I never noticed any scuff marks on his
roof. He doesn't keep it meticulously clean either. A damp rag could
be used to get the grit off roof before leaving if things got
    particularly dirty during the trip.

BTW, I think the maximum weight for most of the OEM Honda racks is
    about 75 lbs.
