With David Letterman owning the number one car! It was neat getting to
see him win at the track in his home state!

    They are minorities in IRL.
Probably taking advantage of Affirmative Action incentives :)

Only other Honda powered car in the race retired early after a crash.

Yawn. They had to struggle to even get enough cars to show up and race
    unlike in the past.

I won't call winning in 'The Greatest Debacle in Racing' due to stopping
the race due to moisture a triumph. It's the stupidest winning ever! If
you want to something worth watching, watch SuperBike racing in full
    rain. That worth promoting.

Honda should stop diverting money from production to do stupid racing.
They should invest money in curing that Automatic Transmission debacle.

  9. Hmmm, with an engine designed and built by err, Ilmor (part owned by M.B.)
    in the U.K.

Personally I'd have been happier/more impressed if Sato had gotten pole at
the Nurburgring. If Barrichello (whingey little prick) hadn't taken him
out of the race he could have gotten 2nd there too.

They have the cure, replace the tranny and DETUNE the car by swapping in a
    different ECU.

1999-2003 that get a replacement automatic, also get a new ECU.

i find it hard to believe the Honda IRL motor was designed and built by
    Ilmor.

  12. Believe it - do your own research... Google. When Honda quit CART, HPD was
to be closed down; they did a deal with Ilmor for a revised version of the
old Ilmor/M.B. CART lump. Of course it's now been down-sized for the new
IRL rules. My info is that Ilmor is an active participant in the
    continuing development of the engine

Yeah, F1 is REAL racing ... not this limited power,
    going-around-in-circles nonsense.

In North America, Limerock Park was the place to be on Memorial Day
    weekend. >:^D

  14. You bet! I haven't thought about Lime Rock in ages. I was a member of
the Porsche club in the 70's and my chapter rented Lime Rock 2 weekends
a year. Going 100+ mph on an Interstate is *nothing* like driving on a
    track. God, that was fun!

  15. Did you see any TV cameras there? Just wondering if we'll get to see it
later, maybe on Speed Channel... in between all the roundy-round crap?
Other than that, the best stuff I see now on TV is the bikes. I'm hoping
we get decent coverage of Le Mans next week.... GO ZYTEK.:)

One of the best days of "racing" I've attended is the student Formula SAE
competition... in the Pontiac Silverdome parking lot.;-)
