I like to come to alt.autos.honda- I don't own a Honda (and thank God,
after reading all these posts of what's going wrong with them.) The
reason I like to come to the Honda message board is because: I have
NEVER seen anyone in so much defense of their vehicles, as Honda owners
are. Is it because you realize that Hondas are junk (which, would appear
you do, from the wide array of posts of what has gone wrong with
Hondas?) Now, I realize that SOME (notice I said "some") Hondas can beat
a Camaro of ANY type- stock or not- which is fine (I could careless,
really.) However, when it comes to which vehicle is "junk," take a look
at your very own board: alt.autos.honda.

Since this was not crossposted I feel comfortable to reply.

Friends of mine have vets camoros mustangs and other muscle low-rev
torque developing engine cars, even subaru wrx is low-rev torque engine
    compared to most honda products.

They are all nice car if you enjoy them, if I was richer, I would own
most of them a take a drive on a different one depending on how I feel.

I have been following honda for years and what I like about honda is
that they are usally ligther than any other car in their category, do
not need turbos to compete with the cars in the same category, and
reminds me my motocross bike when I drive around town.

Yes, not much torque, high hp at high rev with low weight/hp ratio,
reminds me a little of a formula car ;-)

On that matter, I am glad honda is doing better with BAR in F-1. Which
F-1 team uses camaro engine already ? ;-)

You need to recognize that you are looking at a board that focuses on
solving problems. So, that is predominantly what your are going to find when
you come here. Considering that there a seemingly millions of Hondas out
there driving billions of miles and that this board seems to get under ten
new threads a day, I'd say that an extremely high level of build quality is
    indicated.

  4. As opposed to the Camaro boards--which, while also getting fewer than
ten new threads a day, are filled with complete illiterates. And that
explains their lack of activity. If you can't read or write, you tend
not to go to places like that.

Obviously this post is from an imbecilic, foolish troll. No human being in
their right mind would even remotely think about comparing GM's Chevrolet
product line's overall quality to that of Honda's. That's probably one of
the most absurd comparisons in the history of the automotive industry. How
many Camaros do you see on the road today compared to the number of Accords
and Civics alone? Do you think all of these Accord and Civic drivers have
purchased their vehicles due to their reputations as being junk as you
stated? FOOL! I've visited several of your beloved GM boards and the myriad
problems reported there are downright scary. Same for Edmunds.com. Sure
Honda has their fare share of problems too, but over the years Honda has
developed a reputation for making high quality cars. The same simply cannot
be said for 'The Heartbeat of America', 'Like A Rock' Chevrolet product
line. Like a rock, right, their resale value drops like a rock compared to
    Hondas!!!

Oh, want to talk about speed? Take a look at how many Honda engines were
used in the top 6 finishers' cars at Indy this year. I rest my case--FOOL!

  7. Fewer than ten a day, eh?

Brings tears to my old eyes... As I chiefly hang out in
alt.autos.studebaker where the posts number at least a couple hundred
daily and we're reasonably civilized too...

    ATTENTION ALL HONDA OWNERS:
Due to the insidious content of the post from '98 Camaro, please realize
    that it needs no response:
=> Firstly, it's likely from a disgruntled Chevy/Ford/CRYsler owner that is
simply trying to get a reaction from a group where the RESEARCH DATA states
    exactly the opposite of his/her claims;
=> Secondly, he/she is likely a member of the F.E.S. (ie: Flat Earth
    Society).

I have worked in a chevy dealership part dept for 33 years , and that is
probably the reasons we drive Hondas, As far as performance, a 5700 cc v-8
should be able to out run a 2400 cc Accord like mine. I have had some junk
cars in my life too-- all of them had bow-ties on the front, the camaro is
such a good car that they do not build the piece of crap anymore, Ha.
Hondas are just too far advanced for your mind to understand. One day you
will see the error of your ways and buy something decent, if you dont get
hurt trying to push that chevy out of the road

I own a Honda Accord LX 98 with 72,000 KM on it; most of my driving is done
in downtown Ottawa Canada, I drive my car six to seven days a week. Recently
I had a type3 inspection done on my car.

The result of the inspection indicate 40% left on the front brakes and 70%
on the rear brakes, by the way these are the original brakes, maybe I should
also mention that everything else is original (muffler, shocks,
    transmission, tires etc).

I just follow the regular schedule inspection , oil changes ($30.00 can) and
wiper blades refill ($5.00 can) twice a year. This car will be in its 7th
winter and believe me the weather condition are very harsh down here. My car
still runs flawless and is in perfect condition. There is no rattle inside
the car or wind noise on the highway etc.

It always starts immediately on the first attempt it's cheap on gas and is
corrosion free, would you describe this car as a peace of junk or a very
    reliable car!

By the way 98' camaro there is a good chance that your car was build in
Bromont Quebec Canada, further more we bought our in 1998, do you seriously
think that your car has maintain the same value as mine! I don't think so.

    Hello,
I read many of the posts on this subject and agree with the posts made by
Honda owners. I just wanted to add that everyone interested in automobiles
should buy an issue of "Car and Driver" or "Motor Trend" on a regular
basis or even subscribe to one or more of them. Those magazines compare
various cars made by various companies and in most cases Honda or Toyota
cars win. If you don't believe me--read the magazines.

    | a reputation for making high quality cars.
My '90 accord 's rustproofing is very good ( still no rust in this humid climate
    ) & great 4ws, but I've found 5 minor design*flaws ( same in other brands too
), & replaced cheapo / inefficient parts ( manifold, plug cables, steel wheels ).
Now average 14.2 km / litre of RON97, if 70% of trip is highway, despite its
    1.3 ton weight !
Honda has many good qualities, but design & assembly are not 100% perfect :
my starter switch failed @68800km, [ii] Mitsuba radiator fan motor
needed oil @75900 km ( not in service schedule ) & 1 bolt @ bottom of
radiator rusted & jammed ( like no oil / grease was used on bolts during
assembly ) [iii] left rear wheel bearing too lacked grease & whined by 65000
    km.

Well, if you live in certain US states, you could have Canada below you.
Not the entire country, but Ottawa and all the other major cities.

Every new Honda off the truck needs an alignment. 1 Acura and 3 new Hondas
for me and every one had a screwed up alignment.
