How do I keep my Integra GSR from getting stolen?

Aside from the obvious .... getting rid of the car ... or moving to a
new neighborhood. I don't even live in a bad area but twice in the
last month someone has tried to take my 94 Integra GSR.

Both time the alarm has gone off at 4AM. The first time I went out and
the hood was popped but still clasped. I wasn't sure what happened.
Last night the alarm went off again at 4AM and I figured that
something might be wrong with the electrical system. But this morning
I went out and the window channel knob on the outside of the door
frame had been broken and twisted until the window was pried out of
the channel leaving a slight opening. The plastic around the steering
wheel is completely busted. I'm not sure if there's any significant
    damage yet.

The car still turns over. I called the police and filed a report but
I'm not hopeful of anything. Apparently they are trying to investigate
a "ring that's stealing acuras and hondas". He implied that it might
    just be for parts.

I have a factory alarm. I can put "the club" on but I imagine that's
not going to stop anyone. For now I'm just going to park it at
friend's house behind their car in the driveway. But for the long term
is there anything I can do to keep the car from getting stolen? Is
there a better "club" device that I should use? Lojack? This seems
silly for a 10 year old car with 140K miles on it...

    Thanks!

Clubs are a joke. One of the devices that immobilizes the clutch and
brake pedals is slightly more credible.

    Sounds like an amateur thief.

Does your alarm disable the ignition or fuel pump when triggered?
If not, a hidden switch in the fuel pump line is a cheap extra.
Does the alarm have an auxiliary siren with it's own backup battery
that can't be silenced by disconnecting the car battery? Are you sure
its the car they're after and not the radio?

Can you rig a porch light with a floodlamp and on of those motion
detectors so the car is suddenly lit up when approached?

  4. He should just steal the turn signal covers like most thieves. Mine were stolen
    and cost $150 to replace.

You don't need to do anything different. Obviously, it hasn't been stolen. I
would just wait outside for him to try again, then surprise him with a shotgun
to his head. He'll never come back.

How to turn off 'Maintenance Required" light:

    1. Hold trip/reset button on dash
    2. Turn key to "ON" or start engine
    3. Hold button til light goes out

  5. If you want deterrent use the club, alarm and the
wheel lock, the same kind used parking enforcement.

If you want to keep your car, I use transmission solenoids
to lock gear selector on my 11 year old. They're not sold
    in stores.

Lojack is just as worse, have your car stolen stripped
in minutes and then recover it 1 hour later.

I live in a high crime area and neighbors are loosing cars
by the day. I hear dent-pullers (the sound of ignition
being pulled) once a week at 4 AM.

About the only part of the car I've had stolen was the "DOHC VTEC"
sticker on the right rear. Probably ended up as a decoration on
    some punk's Civic.

I did have someone break the drivers side window of my '95 GS-R (parked
in a quiet suburban neighborhood) to steal my laundry, a leather personal
planner (w/ checkbook), and some expensive outdoor clothing. It was my
mistake for not bringing it in. The cop taking my report didn't have it
fingerprinted because it was raining. A week later someone was nice
enough to have dropped off my checkbook, which he found in a garbage can
in downtown Richmond, California (a more or less low-income area). So
I figure kids from that neighborhood likely go to more affluent areas
looking for personal items to steal. The theives even sorted through
my laundry looking for the nicer articles, and left behind the socks
    and the laundry basket.

I've also heard of some thieves who tried to steal a car, and got as
far as a block because they didn't really know how to operate a manual
transmission. They probably killed the tranny though. :)

How about using a car cover? Borrow a dog and leave it in the car? 1reason
Honda's get stolen so often is they are so easy to hot wire.

    I like the layered approach:

    1. Alarm.
    2. Hidden relay on the fuel pump line. (Controlled by a hidden
switch).. Can't get very far if you can't deliver fuel to engine.
    3. Owner with gun.

Keep car in a well lit area.

    This will stop most amateurs.

Pros will simply drive in with a tow truck and have it stripped before
    you know its gone.
The parts are still very valuable. They are very expensive if you have
to buy them yourself from an Acura dealer.

I need to find out more about the alarm system. It's the Acura/Honda
made alarm installed by dealer before purchase.

This is the second time someone has tried to steal it. I believe it's
the same person. The first time the alarm went off at 4AM and I found
the hood popped. Still clasped but ajar. I week later I noticed that
the front driver side wheel well liner had been separated from the
bumper. Is this how they got the hood to pop? No entry to the car
    visible

The second attempt the thief got into the car. I'm quite sure that the
intent was to take the car. A $20 roll of quarters was left in the car
and no other items touched or taken. The plastic housing around the
steering column was pried apart and broken in several places. I don't
know if the alarm went off the moment he opened the door and he had
ambitions of being "gone in 60 seconds" or if it sounded while he was
    playing with the column.

As I said it's the Acura alarm with the little red light on top of the
steering column. I've seen it in other integras - not aftermarket. I'm
not sure if it has a kill switch or how it works I guess I'll need to
    find out.

I think I will invest in the "unbreakable club" to lock the clutch.
It's a manual so even if the brake pedal is locked can you still get
away by downshifting and using the e-brake? I've got my porch light on
at night now and so do the neighbors. The parking lot is well lit so I
don't think the guy is really afraid of getting caught.

I'll also considering selling the car. It's a 94GSR one owner 140K and
well serviced. it's a shame to dump it but if I can get a decent price
it might be easier. Any suggestions on selling your integra
(newspaper, online). I imagine selling it privately is better than
    trade in.

    anyway thanks for your input!

you are lucky-the thief that stole my car just smashed in thru the windows
and smashed the steering column and lock to turn the ignition with a
screwdriver. It cost over $1200 to fix. He was after the Si wheels.

    Probably.

Where is the alarm siren? Another possibility is that he's looking for
that so he can cut the wire or plug it with putty.
