    Hi there,

I have a 98 civic lx (d16y7), and was wondering if there
is a more practical way to ensure that belts are the
    correct tension?

I have seen the deflection method in the book, and I think
I have followed it, but i still feel that I may have
over tightened the power steering belt.

    Any pointers?

  2. Are you talking about new belts? New Hondas have belts so tight from the
factory they'll twang if you pluck them. If they're not new, I wonder why
you retensioned - I've run belts for 100K miles with no readjustment... and
no signs of slippage. Modern belts are good in that respect.

I've always used the 1/4 twist method,

I replaced my alternator recently (185000km), so I had to
remove all of the drive belts for A/C and P/S to get at
that. I only replaced the Alt belt, the others were still
    good.

Other than a 50s dance move, what does the 1/4 twist
    method entail?
