Is it possible to set the idle speed on a 97 Civic DX w/manual trans, or
is this something that has to be done by computer at a dealer? The car
runs fine and never stalls and it idles smoothly, but it only idles at
about 300-400 rpm. If this is something that can be done at home, what
is the procedure? Thanks, i'm new to honda's so any help would be
    appreciated....Larry

The procedure depends on what engine you have (The D16Yxx code, several
engines were used in '97, I don't know what the DX used). On some
engines, the adjustment is a simple DIY procedure. On others, it can be
done with just a tachometer, but it is recommended to use a factory
programming tool. If you post the first 6 characters of the VIN, I'll
post the correct procedure for your car. Also state if the car is USA
spec. or Canadian spec. (those are the only two countries I have the
    procedures for).

One possible cause of low idle is a dirty IAC (Idle Air Control) valve.
If this is the case, it should be cleaned before you try to adjust the
    idle speed.
