how to set timing in 87 honda crx

    I am wondering if anyone can tell me how to set the timing in my 87 crx and how hard would it be to do so,THANKS

    Hook up a timing light, start the engine (it has to be full-warm), check
    the timing. If necessary, loosen the distributor and turn it so the marks
    on the crank pulley and timing belt cover line up properly. Retighten dist.
    Simple.

    You probably have two sets of marks on your crank pulley. The target mark
    is likely the center one of the group of three. With a car this old, there
    may be no paint on the marks any more.

  3. On an '85 CRX Si the "red" mark on the crankshaft wheel is the mark to
    adjust to the mark on the plastic timing cover. I think is approx 16 degrees
    below TDC. The white mark on the wheel is TDC. wolf

    There ya go. It's the same for the '91s then. The red mark is the middle of
    the group of three and the white one is TDC, all on its own.

    i set the timing thanks for the help it ran pretty good but the belt slipped so i timed it again and now it will not start it turns over fast.It has fire and is getting gas but will not start. Any ideas? thanks JROC
