I've run into a problem while putting my timing belt in. The tensioner
bolt is ceased up. I've used an air ratchet, wrenches....etc....etc.
The 14mm bolt head is beginning to round.

At this point I have to ask, are these left hand threads? Does anyone
know if that bolt loosens ccw or cw?

    =================

What year / engine are we talking about?

If it's similar to the '97 CRV, the 14 mm bolt sticks thru the lower
timing belt cover and holds the timing belt tensioner in place. It's a
'normal' bolt, turn CCW to loosen / remove.

  4. Definitely loosens ccw and it does get very tight. I had to go brutal on
our 2K Accord to just loosen it to set tension and it's not even recessed
like Civics/Integras: a box wrench with a big vice grip piggy-backed on the
end and I really had to lean on it before it let go. Since you have the TB
cover off you might want to try some PB Blaster on it if you can get near
    the threads with it.

    It's a `92 with the vtec.
Also I used the PB Blaster and still rounded it this morning. I bought
one of those Craftsman stripped bolt kits. I'll have to see what that
does before I break out the drill.

Ugh.. I have found that CAREFULLY applying an air hammer to the bolt
will sometimes loosen it up. Unfortunately, it sounds like you're
beyond that stage at this point. Hope that ezy outs or rounded out
bolt kits work out for you. (Or a nut welded onto the top of the
fastener, and then hit it with a 3/8" impact.)

If that doesn't work, try dropping the engine slightly (remove mounts)
to get a good angle on the bolt. And perhaps attempt to perform bolt
removal w/ an air hammer. (Try this LAST)

In the picture: Lugnut was dug into, then hit at an angle w/ air
hammer at an angle to make the lugnut want to go counter clockwise.
It did work and I did make a mess of the lug nut.. But it worked!

    Good luck!
