It is worth remembering that, with the high taxes imposed in Italy on
vehicles with a displacement of over two-litres, Ferrari produced a couple
of interesting home market versions of the 308 especially to comply with
these regulations. Indeed, the first 308-based two-litre ‘tax break’ models
were the 208 GTB and GTS, both introduced during 1980, just after the 208
GT4 had ceased production. They featured a 1991cc engine with a bore and
stroke of 66.8mm x 71mm respectively (the former having been reduced from
    81mm). Output, meanwhile, was 155bhp at 6800rpm, this 208 GTB/GTS-only unit
being given the designation Tipo F106 CB."

    In the '80s, Ferrari made a tax-friendly version of their then-popular 308.
Close, but not quite. The 208 was a 2.0 liter V8 (thus the 208 name).
The engine was 1.991 liters and was turbo charged and had 220 bhp (DIN).
It was for the Italian market only, as the tax on cars 2.0 l and above
was 38% as opposed to 18% for cars with smaller engines.
