Hi, I have a quick question. I am installing an aftermarket keyless
entry unit. I have tested it outside of the car and it works well but
I am having trouble finding a constant 12v wire to tap into to power
the unit. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or answers.
I was planning on putting the unit in the driver side fuse "box" on
the side of the dash. It is a 2000 Accord LX if that matters at all.
    Thanks for the help

Take a closer look at the fuse box (the under under the dash). Chances
are you'll find a number of "Options connectors" on the fuse panel.
Honda has been putting these in their fuse boxes for along time, and
they are great for adding accessories. Measure between body ground and
each of the options connectors, and you'll find one that is live at all
times. You can connect to them with regular 1/4" quick connects. See
    http://www.geocities.com//honda for photos of two
different Honda fuse boxes with the options connectors circled. The
layout changes between models and model years, but I'm sure you'll
recognize the options connectors in your fuse box.

Thank you for the information. Can you buy the female connectors at
autoparts stores. Are they standard or are they Honda specific.
    Thanks again

The females are regular 1/4" disconnects that you can get at any auto
parts store, Radio Shack, Sears, Home Depot or pretty much any hardware
store. You can get the un-insulated kind like http://tinyurl.com/2bd2f,
but I much prefer the insulated kind like http://tinyurl.com/2zpux

Honda uses special ones with a latching mechanism in the plastic housing
(not sure if they sell them or if they only come as part of the wiring
harness on OEM accessories), but that is not needed. I am using the
generic kind in my car and you have to pull really hard to get them to
    come loose.
