We just bought a 2003 civic and the second keyless remote does not work.
Does anyone know how to program it.

I just bought an accord and the key requires a battery. Maybe the battery needs
    replacing. Check your manual about
    "immobilizer system".

  3. Usually it is a series of turning the ignition on and off and pressing
the buttons on the remote. I got an additional remote for my insight.
I went to the dealership, they offered to program it. I asked if I
could see the service manual and try it myself. The were quite
accomidating and let me play with it. It took 2 trys but I got it to
work. Just go to your local dealership and ask nicely, they will
probably do it for you, or let you do it.

or here is the procedure I used on my Inisight. It works on my wife's
2001 civic too. Also make sure the FCCID number on the back of the non
working transmitter is the same as the working one. if not it will
never work. You can give it a try, should work on yours too the 01 and
03 are the same 7th generation civic:

    1. Turn the ignition switch on (II).
    2. Within 1 to 4 sec., push the transmitter lock or unlock button
with the transmitter aimed at the receiver (control unit). [MY NOTE:
I have found you just need be sitting in the drivers seat and hold it
    anywhere]
    3. Within 1 to 4 sec., turn the ignition switch OFF.
    4. Within 1 to 4 sec., turn the ignition switch ON (II).
    5. Within 1 to 4 sec., push the transmitter lock or unlock button
with the transmitter aimed at the receiver (control unit).
    6. Within 1 to 4 sec., turn the ignition switch OFF.
    7. Within 1 to 4 sec., turn the ignition switch ON (II).
    8. Within 1 to 4 sec., push the transmitter lock or unlock button
with the transmitter aimed at the receiver (control unit).
    9. Within 1 to 4 sec., turn the ignition switch OFF.
    10. Within 4 sec., turn the ignition switch ON (II).
    11. Within 1 to 4 sec., push the transmitter lock or unlock button
with the transmitter aimed at the receiver (control unit).
    12. Confirm you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators.
Within 1 to 4 sec., push the transmitter lock or unlock button again.
    13. Within 10 sec., aim the transmitters (up to four?) whose codes
you want to store at the receiver, and press the transmitter lock or
unlock buttons. [MY NOTE: same as #2, you can hold it anywhere while
    sitting in the drivers seat]
    14. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and pull out the key.
    15. Confirm proper operation with the new code(s). [MY NOTE: test
each remote out to make sure it works. My mistake originally was not
following step #12 precisely. The remote you were using during steps
1 through 11 must be pressed in step #12. I kept stepping over that
operation and wound up never programming that particular remote].

I'm sure if you take the car to your local Honda dealer they will
know how to program it for you.

IIRC, you bounce it off the dealer's head.

  6. Yeah - just get the chauffeur to take it in. Also make sure you arrange
for a loaner for at least 1/2day so the chauffeur will be able to carry out
his normal duties of picking up the caviar, foie gras and of course a few
bottles of Veuve Cliquot...and any possible personal needs he may have. If
they only keep the car for 1/2day the mileage clocked up for use by the
dealer gopher-guy/gal should not be too high.

You are welcomed, once again! But there is really no need to
thank me. Merely answered the question as asked. Had he asked
us how to program the remote, rather than if we knew anyone who
knew how, I would have answered differently. ;)

    OMG, your a complete moron!

He asked if "anybody" knew how to program it, meaning, here in this group.

Not only can you not fathom even the simplest forms of the English language,
you further insult yourself with your miserably stupid reply.

And if that's not enough, you again...as always, give simple minded-comment
sense advice that every freakin' 14 year old already knows.

And lastly, your a *proven liar*.

    Now fall down!

You are a conundrum. First you thank me, then you call me
names. i wonder if they know you slipped out of the home
    yet? ;)

Unless you live far away from the dealer, why don't you ask them to fix it?
I would be pissed of if one of my remotes on a brand new car was not working
when the car was delivered to me.
