When the light comes on on my 2002 civic sedan (13 gal tank) there is about
3 gallons still in the tank.

Finally, somebody answers the question that was actually asked!

  4. I'll give you $5 for the manual then, as this must be a rare and unique
publication. No capactiy info at all? How much oil, coolant, all sorts
of fluid specs are in every owner's manual I've seen, across multiple
    manufacturers.

Because if he can read the answer here, he can read it in the Owners Manual.

    Frank,

You missed the actual question. He was asking how much gas is left in the
tank when the warning light comes on. That answer is not in the owners
    manual.

    Its not in there.

Check your own owners manual and tell us all how many gallons of fuel remain
in the tank when the low fuel warning light comes on.

The original poster stated twice that it was not listed, but apparently
everyone wants to pontificate rather than actually look.

Here is the wording in my owner's manual about the low fuel warning: "This
light comes on when the fuel in the tank is getting low. Refuel as soon as
it is convenient, preferably before the fuel gauge reaches E. There will be
a small reserve of fuel remaining in the tank when the fuel gauge needle
    reached E."

Now tell me - how many gallons is a "small amount" and how many gallons is
    "getting low"?

(Experience with this particular car indicates that "Getting low" is roughly
3.5 gallons. I don't know how many "small amount" is because I haven't been
willing to run it dry and find out.)

    can't do the math?

If you have a 13.5 gallon tank and it takes 12.587 gallons to fill it,
    the reserve is 0.913 gallons.

Do you really need to be more accurate?

I based my initial response on the fact that the Owners Manual for Honda
products, in the past did state how much (approx.) was left in the tank when
the low fuel light became lit.

See my above response, please. I apologize for my initial response, it was
based as I stated above in Manuals of previous Hondas that I have owned. It
used to be approximately nine litres (if my memory serves me well). More
than enough to get to a gas station sixty miles away or more.

At least four, and at least two when the indicator shows
    empty.
