Or how about giving the OP the benefit of the doubt and assuming that
he is at least as logical as you and therefore wouldn't go through
this whole process if he could look it up in 20 seconds?

So what? With the tank capacity from the manual, and the amount required
to fill the tank once the light comes on, he knows everything that's
    necessary to answer his question.

Usenet is not meant to substitute for a pocket calculator.

  8. To judge from all the "how do I reset my maintenance require indicator"
questions, it's actually meant to replace the manufacturer's written
    instructions.

It's amazing how many people come here first, before cracking the book
or using common sense--and then believe everything they read here.

A logical person would fill the gas tank way before the low fuel light
    comes on.

  15. Indeed, many mechanics have told me that going below 1/4 is asking for
bad news as the in-tank transfer pump uses the surrounding fuel to
    dissipate heat.

Umm, is your gas light the kind that kind of fades on and off? Coz the
light on my civic kind of does that - you know sometimes on and
sometimes off. At that point, I have about 3 gallons or so. It starts
staying on all the time when I am down to about 2.

And on what logic is that fantastic statement based?

Well he's also the one who's being called "stupid" by people who don't
even bother to understand the facts before casting their dispersions.
I can understand his attitude perfectly. He's responding to
inconsiderate persons who chose to denigrate him for asking an honest
question instead of helping him. They taught most of us in
kindergarten that if we don't have something nice to say to keep
quiet. Remembering that admonition could go a long way toward
shortening and improving the quality of Usenet threads.
