Does anyone know where i could pick up a main relay for my 89 Honda civic
for pretty cheap? I have already spent about $1,200 on my honda and its
still got problems, but just like with my fiancee i will never stop loving
it. i found a newer model relay on ebay for $9.99 plus $5.00 shipping but i
would have to rewire my relay harness for it to work. I have a 89 Honda
Civic 1.5L Hatchback 4 speed (yes its canadian manufactured)

You may be able to fix your main relay, if you know how to use a
    soldering iron:

If you don't know how to solder, take yours to the local TV repair shop
and ask them to check out the joints and to resolder them. Take a print of
Mark's page to give them guidance. Should only take them 30 mins in the
hands of a good service tech.

Get it resoldered instead. It takes five minutes / the price of a
Cappuccino for the buddy who knows how to use a soldering pencil.

Well guys im no dumby so i have already takin it off and resoldered the
cracked joint. It was very hard to see until i broke out the magnifing
glass. But i hear the main relay click while driving the car and then the
car starts to hesitate from not getting fuel to the motor. Then i will
hear it click again and the car starts running fine again. So I just need
a good cheap price. I have already replaced the fuel pump and strainer,
the fuel filter, dist. cap and rotor button, ignition coil, spark plugs
and wires, and now the ECU. The car runs fine at idle, it just hesitates
while drivin after hearing the mysterious click.

I bought used one at $15.. Try savage part. The new main relay
    is over 40 US dollars.

Perhaps next time state what you have done already so we're not wasting
time giving you suggestions that you've tried already.

It may not be your main relay. It could be because power to it is
intermittent -- a bad ignition switch will do that, for instance. I'd
do a little more detective work before you plunk down money for a new
    relay:

Since you appear to be familiar with soldering, you must also be
    somewhat familiar with electrical systems?
If so, I'd monitor the input voltage to the relay by means of tying a
12V lightbulb. Do the same to the contact side (basically monitoring
    power to the pump).
This way you can at a glance see if the problem is the supply voltage
to the coil or the actual relay (depending on what light goes out when
    the car dies)

Based on a few of his post the problems sounds so much like a bad ECU
ground side on his main relay.
Check out his other post "Major Problems With 89 Honda Civic Hatchback"
where he swaps the relay from a rear defroster and possibly rewired it in
place of the main relay. Doing this is fine but must tell us that the fuel system
    relay is no longer stock.
If he's familiar with soldering he should include the word desolder.
    Main relays are picky.

Yeah, could be a bad ground too.
That's why I suggested putting a lightbulb across the relay coil and a
bulb across the pump. It will at least eliminate/accuse the relay or
    whatever is past the relay.
