I have a 1999 honda Civiv EX. A few days earlier, the maintenance light
turned yellow and now it is red. I am sure its because of the
scheduled maintenance due. How can i turn this off? I have a
rectangular slot as well as a switch (that can be pressed to reset the
miles driven) next to the odometer. can someone please tell me how I
can get rid of this light?

    Thanks,
    GPN

If you have the owner's manual, you will find that the instructions are
buried in there somewhere. Usually the ones with the slot work by sticking
the end of the ignition key in the slot until the light goes out.

    Hi ,

when i looked at the manual, it says insert the key in the slot. When
and how do I do it? I am not sure how i can do it when the car is
running using the second ignition key I have? If I do this When the car
is parked and switched off, will it be effective?

    Thanks,
    GPN

Just stick the key in and find out. You'll know right off. Its not
actually connected to anything, so you can't hurt anything by trying.

btw. It only goes in a fraction of an inch.

E Meyer, You are correct. i was a little apprehensive, but I think it
worked. Thanks! I was expecting the key to go all the way, but it just
goes a little further in. Anyways, now its back to green.
