    Hi,

Does anyone know the causes of the
    malfunction indicator lamp beside loose
fill cap? My 2001 Accord has only 37K miles,
and start to see this problem. In the past,
I simply tighten the fuel cap (turning until
it click three times), and it goes away after
    three or four trips.

I wonder if my fuel cap need to be replaced. If so, how often does one has
    to replace his/her fuel cap?

    Does anyone have this problem?

    Thanx.

A fault in the computer / emissions systems will cause the light to come on.
It should be setting a fault code which can be read with the right equipment
    for diagnosis.

Go to AutoZone, they do free scancode checks. They'll tell you what's up. At
37K it shouldn't be anything serious but you never know.

The advice you received from other posters should help you more than my
advice but I just wanted to add that you should buy a new fuel cap to see
if it solves the problem. It's possible that the old one may have a crack
in it. Have you dropped it recently? If a new fuel cap is expensive--just
carefully check the old cap for cracks or other signs of damage.

Thank all for your help. It turned
out to be the fuel cap.
