ive had a check engine light problem with the car since i got it. ive
ran codes on it and its saying its a bad map sensor but if its not it
would be an expensive mistake. didnt know if any one had had this
    problem before

What was the error code number?

    Any symptoms evident?

    When did this start?

Any work done on the car immediately prior to onset of problem?

I recently had to replace a bad MAP sensor on a 99 Civic. The MAP
sensor functions like the old vacuum advance on the distributor.
Symptoms included very rough performance, missing, fouled spark plugs
(from too rich mixture). The sensor was $90 from the dealer...not an
    overly expensive part to replace.
