i have a 94 civic my center windshield mirror came off and took a chip of
glass with it but i just need help getting it back on. i know i can buy the
glue kit from an auto parts store but i don't know how on a honda to get the
the metal thing the mirror slides down onto off of the mirror so that i can
glue it to the windshield and let it dry then put the mirror back on that.
does anyone know how to get the metal piece seperated from the mirror?
    please let me know. thankyou.

i figured it out. it has a metal tab in it that u can push in with a thin
screw driver to release the metal piece that glues onto the windshield.
    thanks anyway.

Same thing happened to my daughter's 95 Civic when she had it to include
the little chip of glass that came off with the mirror. Now it's my baby.
A Honda dealer glued it back on and the windshield cracked. They did not
put it on the repair invoice. They also did not charge for the "repair".
You know I was ready to have them pay until the glass companies all said
they would never try to glue it back on because the windshield will crack.
Not maybe, the windshield will crack. They would decline to do the job.
    Sorry.

so far mine hasn't cracked. if it does i'll probably just replace it. i used
the permatex mirror adhesive for the mirror. Did your winshield crack right
away after it was fixed or was it shortly after fixing the mirror?
