Need Old Tach Cable...

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Grumpy au Contraire, Oct 18, 2004.

  1. I need the short tach cable, (that goes from the head to a coupler in
the engine compartment. It's about 12-14 inches long), on a 1983 Civic
FE. One of the doofii working on it "lost" it somehow...

    Any suggestions?

Yeah, it should be "doofi", "doofii" would be the genitive form.

Seriously, I can't help you, but your post piqued my interest. What
exactly is a tach cable? Where does it go from and where does it go to?
Is it an actual cable, or just an electrical wire?

  3. Believe it or not, it's a cable... In two pieces!

37260-sa0-701 is the part number for the tachometer cable assembly, but I
don't know if it includes what you are looking for. It is around 30 bucks
    online.

  5. Thanks Jafir,

I only need the cable itself, the the connecting shroud/housing/ is
    there and in good condition.

From the picture, it looks like that was just the cable....

  7. Thanks Jafir.

All I gotta do is probably go to the dealer and part with some $$$!
