    Hi,

I found that driving without an air filter gives me much more power. I've
been driving with one for 4months and its not even dirty still almost brand
new. What will happen if I keep driving like this?

    Thanks

I dunno...I'd be worried about dirt contaminating the injectors..

  3. Your engine WILL gum up, the piston rings will corrode, you will lose
compression, and your car will start burning 2 quarts of oil per WEEK. Take
it from me, honestly. I ran mine with no filter for about a year, and I
just got done getting my engine replaced because of that. (It was way too
far gone to rebuild) If you want power, buy a K & N air filter. They do
make ones that will fit your make and model. K & N filters have more than
four times the air flow than "regular" filters. You can buy them at Advance
Auto or whatever auto store you choose. Here is their website:

P.S. If you're curious, I can be more specific as to exactly how bad things
will get inside the engine, if you wish.

Anything involving pneumatic control requires clean air.
Dirt can block valve holes and contaminate control surfaces.
If removing the filter gives noticeable power increase, then
you long ago needed a new air filter. Problem was not the
    filter.

    Are you serious?

BTW, look at the bottom of the filter not the top, and what will damage the
engine is things you cannot see. You will score the cylinder walls, and the
engine will eventually give up, but hey, it's your car, I say GO FOR IT, as
mechanics don't make a lot and they need people like you to stay in
    business.

Lets face it, they just put that filter on for looks and to cost you money
to replace during service. Throw that darn thing in the trash!

Also, stop wasting money changing your oil and filter also, just dump a
quart in when it's low, you will save a bunch of money.

How come? My air filter is connected straight to the fuel injection system,
no where near the engine. Wouldn't it just dirty my feul injectors and I can
have those cleaned once in a while?

  8. No air passes through the fuel injectors.

I completely agree. Mechanics do not make nearly enough money, so it's
our duty to line their pockets.
