    I have a 2005 Civic with 41K miles. Recently I noticed a screeching
noise very occasionally when driving. This is not when braking. It
last only for about 30 secs and goes away. It is coming from the
Right front side. Any suggestions on what might be causing it. There
are days when I probably don't get the noise at all.
    Thanks

  2. Could be the brake wear indicators telling you that your front pads are due
    for replacement.

Yeah, I would check the condition of the brake pads.

yes, it was the brake pads, the rotors were wrapped. $255 later noise
    is no more.

    Thanks

After only 41K? You must be a "spirited" driver. The car should still be
under warranty. Why are you paying for the repair?

That's the rotors were warped. Did you have violent shakes when
braking? If not next time you need pads and don't have any problems to
specifically tell them not to resurface the rotors. This is just extra
money in the pockets of the dealers. You may also want to look around
at specialty shops that specialize in Hondas as they may be cheaper
    compared to the dealers.

The warranty is 3 yr or 36K miles.
    thanks
