oil light comes on

    1992 honda accord has 138,000 miles, the oil light keeps flashing on when
    the car is in idle. when I press the gas it goes out. what is the cause ,
    should I change the oil, oil sending unit, need a heavier oil I use 10w30

    Unless the idle is way too low, the pressure should be ok so the light
    should be off.

    You could disconnect your oil pressure sensor and make sure that the
    light goes off and stays off. If it doesn't go off, you have an issue
    within your dash someplace and it isn't old pressure related at all.
    Since oil pressure sensors are pretty cheap, you could replace it to
    see if the problem goes away.

    I would not change until you know for sure you are not having problems
    with your oil pressure because changing might just mask the problem
    temporarily. It will be like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound. You
    don't want to drive around with a failing oil pump as that will destroy
    your engine when it fails.
