I was driving along (during the day) when I suddenly noticed my clock dim on
the dashboard. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the clock was
dimming because the lights were activating themselves and then deactivating
    themselves at random.

I then found that each time I hit the brakes, my parking lights were turning
    on.

Even if the car is switched off, when I hit the brakes, the parking
    lights come on!!

Has anyone had such a problem? Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

    Thanks.

Filament problem shorting inside the bulb to the parking filament.
Remove each breaklight bulb in turn to see which one is causing it.

Or, possibly, the owner replaced a dual-filament bulb with a
single-filament bulb? The single contact on the end of the bulb might
have shorted the two contacts in the receptacle together..?

Thanks Graham and to everyone else for your prompt assistance.

My car has been exorcised!! Faulty Brake/Stop bulb. Replaced the faulty
bulb and my lights are now working as they should.

    Thanks again.

You're welcome, Jim. Be prepared for the other brake/park bulb to do
the same thing in the next handful of years! 8¬)

I'll bet one of the techs at you local Honda dealership will know
exactly what to do to correct that problem. Take it in
and have them take a look at your vehicle, WBMA

Wow! More spectacular advice from our village idiot! What a genius!

I mean...come on..."Hey, my cars broke!" and our local dipshits response,
    "Take it to a dealer."

Seriously Mike...do you ever look at your posts and say "Gee...I guess that
really *was* 4th grade common sense..."

Get away from your Mommy's keyboard...

Simply answered the question asked which was 'Does anyone know
how to fix this problem?' Even you should have been able to come
up with that answer, but apparently you didn't have any answer.

Seems a little redundant, though, three days after the original poster
posted a message saying the problem is solved...

  13. Uhhh - this is going to amaze you b-b-b-but other people know about dealers
too. D'oh - they come here to compare notes with other Honda owners to get
a clue as to what might be the problem... if maybe some other owner has
already done the diags... before throwing themselves at the mercy of your
average Service Manager. If you don't have a "clue" for them, IOW you have
nothing to contribute here, save the industry lackey brain farts.

What amazes me about "Mike Hunt" (besides the plethora of aliases he uses
to break out of killfiles), is that he does not proselytize Ford here the
way he does in alt.autos.toyota. Ford can do no wrong according to "Mike".

His posts in a.a.t are otherwise identical to his ones here.

"Mike" has simultaneously claimed to have only owned new cars for 25 years,
and at the same time to own a '71 Pinto with 290K and a Mustang with 300K.

"Mike" has also claimed to to have owned one of the biggest leasing
companies in Pennsylvania (for which he still consults), and to have owned
at least one of just about every car and motorcycle ever made.

He further claims he does all his posting from some high-falutin'
"satellite link" that cost his company a "small fortune" to install just
recently, and claims to post from such locales as the Florida Keys, even
though his NNTP Posting Host IP addresses ALWAYS trace back to Penn Tele
Data's dialup pool in Hazleton, Pa.

    "Mike" is a sad case.

  15. Hmmm, I think he's working up to it here - Ford does figure prominently in
    his posts here occasionally too.
Ahh - more details. He has hinted at his "status" in the industry here and
still talks of "us"... while also mentioning that he sold his empire off -
the latter having been built *after* he had done a stint as a "design
    engineer" for VWoA.
If it includes a data uplink then... yup it must have cost a fortune and
will continue to unless... they just bought a piece of the satellite.
    Dementia!:)<shrug>

As usual you get it less than half right. I generally own at
least two vehicles. I buy a new vehicle every year and sell my
two year old in addition over the years I have kept several,
    including a '41, '64, '71, 72 an '83. I have owned many brands
including Toyota and Honda and currently own a '03 and and '04,
both domestics. If you chose not to believe that, you are free to
believe what you wish. I never said Ford can do no wrong, they
do indeed do some things wrong as does every other manufacture.
I have merely responded to all of the anti Ford BS in the Toyota
NG but that is not a problem here. The guys here as is the case
in most NG's generally post concerns about their own vehicles
rather than spending all day bad mouthing other brands with BS
like they do in the Toyota NG. What I have always said is, that
from what I see in our fleet service business, is every
manufacture today is building good vehicle and the only real
difference is style and price IMO. What one chooses to buy with
their money is their concern not mine, I could not car less. I
have explained many times how I can post from anywhere (yes
including Key West) to our many stations, via satellite. The
connect to the NG is from the same point because that IS where
our network connects TO the net via the PTD ISP. Pretty basic
concept, that's your problem if you can't understand that.

Once again, less than half right. If you want to talk about
me at least get it straight. My degree is in metallurgy, I
started as a structural design engineer at Ford in '49, then went
to GM, than as a field engineer at the VW PA. assembly plant,
then back to Ford as a design engineer until I retired
in '86. I went into auto retailing/leasing then started my fleet
    service business.. ;)
