Power antenna help

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by .·°~ §LëAzZ? WëA§ëL ~°·., Aug 24, 2003.

  1. My son is off to college and I'm trying to store his '95
Accord EX Sedan. The power antenna is stuck in the upright
position. Anyone know how to get it down, without taking
    the whole thing apart? Thanks.

....When mine broke I just pushed the antenna all the way down manually
....(took some force) and then disconnected the motor. The line to the
....stereo is still there, and it still *works* but reception can be poor,
....so I got and in dash MP3 deck.

Thanks. I've tried forcing it down, but it wouldn't budge
and I do not want to snap it off.

    Anyone else with an idea?

Plan A: Remove the cover to access the motor and wind it back manually.
Plan B: To force it down electronically requires turning the ignition ON and
unplugging the (guessing wildly) yellow wire at the motor unit connector.
Without this wire the motor would go in reverse. First check fuse. If yellow
wire won't work try another then another all the time all wires still
    connected.

How about sparying some WD40 onto it and get someone operating the antenna
up and down while you assist it? Maybe it will work. I did the same trick
when my antenna could not go down completely. Good luck.

  7. Forced it down slowly with a pair of Channel Lock pliers.
Thanks to all for the help.
