I have a 91 prelude that has the ALB. The pump seems to come on fairly
frequently sounding like a bunch of birds chirping. How expensive and
difficult is this to change your self?

man, I feel for you.. I had once a 90 Acura Legend doing exactly the same
thing. The dealer quoted me around $1500 to replace the pump. I got rid of
the car....However, hard breaking on a dirty and empty road couple of times
may help you..By doing this, it activates the ABS breaks and may free some
stuck parts in the system. Just give it a try you wont lose anything.

Exact same symptom on my 90 Prelude. The dealer looked at it (my
regular mechanic won't touch ABS). They said the accumulator is
starting to fail. A $1200 estimate. I'm the original owner, but I'm
not dropping $1200 into a car worth only about $2500 (pvt party) in
KBB....especially since my a/c is also dead..... :(

    PS....

You asked about it as a do-it-yourself project. From what I've read
there are some specialized tools required, and keep in mind the system
is under high pressure, wrong tools, inexperience, and I can imagine
    you could really hurt yourself...
