    Hi everybody.

I have a 140,000km '97 prelude, which when I start first time for the
day, and put it into 'reverse' it pauses for about a second or two and
then clunks and jerks the car, then you can feel the car engage
    reverse.

After I back the car, I move it to 'drive' and it pauses again for
about 1-2 seconds then clunks and jerks the car forward it feels
because you can drive it. It overrevs a bit, then for a little while,
while shifting up the gears, until it warms up, and then everything is
    fine for the day.

    Till the next day.

I've had a transmission flush at 100,000. Anybody got any suggestions
of what I should do to stop this happening in the morning? Thanks
    guys.

you had it flushed with non-honda atf. honda transmissions are
different to any others out there & they need a different lubricant.
use only genuine honda z1 atf. the clunking is poor engagement of the
1-way clutch because the friction properties of your non-spec fluid are
    not right.

of course, you could also go the other common route & take it to a shop
that advises you to replace the whole transmission because this one "is
    about to go".

    unlikely..
i got it serviced by my local Honda dealer, and it only recently
started happening.... surely if they used the wrong fluid, it would
have started immediately or much earlier??
