One other point here, Graphite is a fine lock lube. Don't over do it.
Graphite is also a good conductor of electricity and too much may find
its way into places were you don't want it causing other problems.

If you're really that anal, probably a little Preparation-H from time to
    time would do the trick.

All anal references aside, how long have the batteries in Accord keys
    been lasting?

    TIA

Ahhh, yes the actual electrical contacts. Didn't think about those.

It has less than 500 mi on it. Maybe I should forget about it.

Assuming you mean the batteries in the keyless remote, my Hondas tend to
need new batteries after about three years. The Nissans seem to last about
    twice that long.

Back during the school years, I owned several old Japanese cars bought used.
I always made fresh copies of the key after buying the car. Always from the
key I got, not at the dealer using the VIN number (there was no chip back
then neither so it was really cheap to make a copy).
I never had problems, even with a 12 yo. The only reason I was making the
new key was because some of them were cracked and I didn't want it to break
    in the lock during winter.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about that advice, although I don't really see why
    it would work.

Anyway, I meant to mention, that the dealer told me to start the car
and partially release the key, enough to let the starter release. I
was able to drive it all the way to the dealer without a tow that way.
After 30 minutes my thumb hurt like hell. New switch was about $90.
Overall, I felt I got off light.

I don't think it'll let me lock the doors with the key in the ignition.

If you are particular about your anal lube, try this -
    http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/sex-toys/doc-johnson-anal-lube.cfm
That being said, repeated insertions um, never mind.

You did not mention what hear of vehicle you own. There is a recall on
1999 honda accords related to the ignition switch. You can learn more
    about it at this site:

I also seem to get pretty good distance out of it. Not sure about the
Nissans, but greater workable distance=less battery life.

Besides, those lithium cells are only 2 or 3 bucks.
