Problem with gauges

    Hi,

I recently replaced the gauges in my '98 Prelude but now my tach runs very
rough. If I rev the engine it takes the needle longer to drop back down,
and gets stuck along the way. Is there any way to fix this? Any help would
be appreciated! Oh, also does anyone know how much it would cost to get the
    cluster replaced? Thanks in advance!

    xero,

The tiniest specks of metal filings can cause the described symptoms,
because the gauge uses a moving coil around a permanent magnet. If any
metal bits stick to the magnet they will stop the coil (needle) from
    swinging through it's course.

Same thing happens with 'original style' analog voltage meters, for the
same reason. Very hard to clean out and the problem usually comes back.

Thanks for the information. I cleaned it off a bit and it seems to help
quite a bit. At least now my tach doesn't get stuck at 1000 when I shut the
    car off
