Pyrotechnic Pretensioners?

Is anyone familiar with "pyrotechnic pretensioners" for seatbelts. I
have them in my 2004 Camry. They are used to quickly take up the
seatbelt slack in the event of a major front-end collision. Since
these devices are explosive or at least contain a fom of explosive, I
am wondering whether they are very noisy when they deploy (like, can
    they damage hearing)?

    Thanks,

    JJ

You won't hear it over the sound of the air bag deployment.

  4. As loud as an airbag.

I'd be more concerned about that 184 to 205 mph airbag coming at my
face. You can get burned, rubbed raw, and will be breathing toxic
chemicals. And you're just worried about hearing....
