I bought a used '02 Accura LX on Saturday from a local Honda dealer, and
upon delivery of the keys, the salesman said to me, "they didn't have time
to install the security system, so when you bring the car in (I need to
bring it back to have a minor scratch removed) they can install it then." I
do have a work order for them to do this, so it doesn't look like they are
scamming me, but my question is....why would the dealer have removed this
security system in the first place since it is a standard feature in this
    car.

I will ask about this when I bring it in, but can anyone shed some insight
on this? The only reasoning I can think of is that maybe the one in the car
may have been defective and perhaps they removed it (?). Or is it standard
procedure for a dealer to remove such a device and put in a new one when
    they resell used cars?

  2. Accord LX?

The security system was NOT standard on this car. It was ALWAYS a
dealer add-on, using a factory system, and it was DIFFERENT than the
factory-installed piece used in the Accord EX.

Oh, ok...well that explains it. Apparently they are adding it as part of the
    deal.

    Thanks
