    Hello,
I was curious if anyone has looked into the pros/cons of buying an
automobile across the border in Canada and bringing it into the USA? I live
in Seattle so that's not very far...

A friend of ours said they know a couple that have done it... hopefully it
was worth it in not being much trouble, and cost-savings?

Anyone know anything on this, have an experience or know where to get some
    more information on this?
I would suspect that once you came into the country with it... lets say
Canada for example... you would have (x) amount of days to pay the taxes and
perhaps get some emmisions test or something and all that???

    Thanks
    Dano

  4. warranty.

Nobody will honour a warranty on anything bought from another company.

    Sony Canada
    Honda Canada
JVC Canada...etc. warranty is issued by, and honoured by, _them_.

Sony, Honda, and JVC USA are entirely different companies.

    Now, onto some answers....

  6. Well, I was at the Lexus showroom last weekend. My friend is looking
into buying either a Lexus IS300 or Acura TSX. So, the salesman
actually told us that a lot of their orders come from the US and
people in the US generally make it a point to buy a Lexus from Canada
and then import it. I guess, taxes aside he claimed it is still a
cheaper for American buyers. I am not sure about the intricate
details, but I guess people do it for a good enough reason.

Reason number 1 .... feel that dollar bill in your pocket?. Think of it as
a buck and a half in Canada. A $20,000 vehicle here in Canada will only
cost you $14,000 USD. While you are at it, you can pick up some real beer,
too! But then we are talking big money there. $20. for a dozen.

I think I remember paying $6.50 USD for a beer at a bar in Kingston Ontario. Had I
known it was that much it wouldn't have been a Labatt's.

Up to a year ago US used car dealers bought a lot of cars out of Ontario
and converted them miles from kilometres and did very well
    for themselves.

Now that the US dollar has dropped or the Canadian one has risen it is not
    all that advantageous.

I have found the list price of new cars here in Canada seem to be lower than
the US when the dollar is converted but have not done a comparison of late.
