Quieter? Accord or Camry?

The evidence here is to the contrary since most people are opining
    that the Camry is quieter.
Consumer Reports has rated the Accord and the Camry in the same issue
more than once, and they report that the Camry is, indeed, quieter.
Road noise is important to me, so I paid careful attention to that
during my test drives. My conclusion was that even though the Camry
might have been a little quieter, the road noise in the Accord was not
at all objectionable. In fact, I thought it was pretty quiet. I
chose the Accord, and I've been pretty happy with it. I can hear
stuff under the hood like the power-steering pump and the AC
    compressor, though.

Camry is the quieter one, but not by much.

    Circa 1995 I took a test drive in a Camry V6.

The sales person told me it was way quieter than the Camry 4
    and the Honda 3.

And so it was -- until I realized the air vent fan was off!

When I turned it on to the second lowest speed I realized that
it made the car way noisier than my 91 or 93 Honda's!!!!

The Camry fan was *way* louder than the Accord's!

Is this still the case? A test "drive" at rest with a Radio Shack db
    meter should be useful.

Someone should check this out: pay a few thousand for a V6
    when the fan is loud?

Jees. Here's an idea - test drive them and make your own conclusion.

Nice quip, but it might not be so easy to determine the difference based on
test rides, presumably on different roads and under different conditions. If
quiet is what he's after, it might be worthwhile to see what the magazine had
to say, since they probably tested both under controlled conditions and used
instruments to measure the sound levels.

  17. I own a 99 Camry LE V6 and an 03 Accord EX-V6. I have not driven the newer
    Camrys.

The Camry is slightly quieter than the Accord and the ride is slightly
smoother on most rode surfaces. The Accord does handle better than the
Camry. I hate to use the word, but the Camry tends to 'drift' where you point
it while the Accord is quicker on the steering response. The Accord also has
IMHO, a much more comfortable driver's seat. Now, the Accord is leather and
    the Camry is cloth FWIW.

The wife now drives the Camry. The other day I had to move the Camry in the
driveway. I started it and actually had to look at the tach since I didn't
think it had started! Yes, it is that quiet!

Then you are just depending on your ear...which is one source.

    Magazine tests...another source

    Other owner opinions...another source.

    More info = better decisions.
