Radio displays "cd" when it is turned on but I don't have a cd player. My
radio is the stock radio that came with the car. Sometimes when I fidget
with the manual electric antenna then it will work for a few seconds and I
get perfect reception and I can also use the tape deck. But unfortunately
it does not continue working but quickly starts the "cd" routine. When
this is displayed all that the radio does is make static and the tape deck
doesn't work either. I appreciate any help in problem solving this
    situation. Thanks

There isn't much that can go wrong with a radio, other than the radio
itself. And repairing an automotive radio is a lost art. Your best bet
would be to find an older OEM radio in good condition and replace the
radio in your car. Speaking from experience, I would suggest eBay as a
    source, rather than a wrecker.
