I have a 2004 Accord EX - lately it has developed a rattle in the dash
somewhere (it sounds like, when we are drivng over roads that are not
perfectly smooth) that it's somewhere left of the instrument cluster or near
    the vent outlet

is there a common component there that will loosen up and cause such a
rattle? how would I get at it?
any amount of wiggling or pushing or holding by me has no effect on the
    rattle.

    thanks.
    Dave.

This may be the noise mentioned in TSB 04-056. The cause of the noise in
04-056 is the rear of the left-side shock tower rubbing against the
    firewall.

Then there's TSB 04-055, which covers a similar noise resulting from the
bottom of the A-pillar trim contacting the dashboard.

My '01 Accord has a rattle as well in possibly the same area. I think I've
narrowed it down to the "lid" of the dash, somewhere near the square plug
toward the windshield that hides one of the screws holding the dash in
place. If I "gently" beat on the glass with my fist in that area I can get
it to rattle, and putting my other hand against the dash will silence it.

I've yet to figure out exactly what's rattling though, I'm hoping it's not
something underneath, or if it is, that tightening the screw under that
cover will take care of it. It's possible it's the windshield defrost vents
    also.

    thanks to Tegger too.
I got 2 service bulletins that deal with such a noise (turns out Honda
Canada has a totally different numbering system than the US for these
    bulletins).
One is about the strut tower touching the dash. The other (which sounds
plausible to me) is about the moulding clips holding the pillar trim being
either broken or disengaged - I'll check this out when it stops raining ;-)
