    Hello,
In my quest for a CRV I've found another '97 (not the one I mentioned in my
'97 vs 2000 post earlier) which is appealing because it has less than 60,000
miles on it...original owner selling, maintenance records...rear seat
armrests ..well..not broken, but hanging down from horizontal.

Is this a condition that can be repaired or is it a real problem? Is it
common? It is annoying for sure.

Thanks...I look forward to the day when I can help somebody new!!

    Peter,

That's not a problem you're looking at. Because the seats are
'reclinable', the elbow rests are pointed a bit toward Japan. They look
perfectly normal if the seats are tilted back a bit. Putting the
seatbacks straight gives you a much larger storage compartment for
groceries, but then the elbow rests look broken. :-(

I went out to the garage to confirm.

    Hi,
My gosh, rear seat arm rest is a major factor in buying a used car?
Some cars don't even have it.
Speaking arm rest, my '98 CRV has passenger side arm rest I installed
myself,. It matches color/fabric. Looks original.
