Rear view in CR-V

I like the new 2005 CRV as it has lots of safety features and seems to
be reasonable priced than Toyota Rav4. I test drove the car, however,
found that the rear viewing area is pretty limited as seen in the rear
view mirror. The rear view is blocked by:
1) rear middle passenger's headrest
2) brake light at the top of the rear windshield
3) windshield opening knob/hook at the bottom

May be I'll get used to it after a while but thought I'll post my
concern on this group and see what CR-V owners have to say. Other than
that my only concern is the stability of the car when taking corners
but that's bound to be not-so-perfect as its a mini-SUV and not a car.
Hoping to buy it this sunday (no christmas deals, however).

Never payed that much attention to my rear view as I only glimpse into the
rear view mirror on occasion.

We have a 2005 CR-V SE, as well as a Dodge Grand Caravan.

The headrests are adjustable, up/down or out, if center seat not in use.

The rear view mirror is adjustable, up/down, to maximize your view angle with respect to any given seating position.

You have two, adjustable exterior rear view mirrors, in addition to the interior mirror.

The rear pillars are stout, but that's part of what gives the CR-V such excellent torsional rigidity.

Rear view in the CR-V is not significantly more or less compromised than in the Grand Caravan.

I searched more on this group and rec.autos.makers.honda and found
several threads where people were discussing this 'problem'. Yeah,
removing the center headreset is a good idea. Another suggestion was to
use a convex lens on the interior rear view mirror or side view mirrors
each.

Also, came to know about the engine fire problem. Not that many cases
but something of a concern to me.
Or, I am too chicken!

 

The first thing when I took Delivery of my 2002 CRV almost 3 years ago was
remove the middle head rest. It drove me crazy at the time of my
initial test drive. Everything else was great and it has been a good
ownership experience so far.

 

i've met you on the freeway many times. if you won't look in your
mirror and move over to let me pass, why do you get upset when i use the
horn to wake you out of your stupor?
