Remote key too weak

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by ¤jº~¥Á±Ú, Dec 7, 2004.

  1. My Honda Accord remote key is not very weak, I have to be within 2 feet of
the car to lock or unlock. So I changed its battery, (CR 2025), but with the
new battery, it still works very weak. Any guru knows how to fix this
    problem?

Maybe it is not the key fob but your alarm. The aftermarket alarms
often have an antenna in the form of a piece of wire dangling
somewhere. Check the connections on your alarm and maybe move the wire
    to see if that helps.

I figured that the remote entry and your alarm system are one and the
same -- after market systems often are done that way.
Is your remote entry system a factory installed system, then?

It's possible that the battery that you purchased has been setting on the
shelf for the past 3 to 5 years and as a result was half charged. I
suggest that you buy another battery from another dealership and see if
    that solves your problem.

Better off at your local electronics store or Radio Shack. Dealers probably
charge 10x what the things actually cost and is a standard battery.

Look at this article for CRV alarms . . . Should be very similar.
