Replacing factory installed CD player

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Rahul Goyanka, May 16, 2004.

  1. Hi

I have a simple question about the factory installed CD player. Since
the anti-theft system is built in the CD player, how can i replace
this system with another player from some other company? Also can any
player that i buy from out side will fit in Honda Accord or is there a
list available where i can find the players that can fit accord.

I have been trying to get an aux input CD player to attach my ipod to
    my car.

    Thanks
    -RG

First, are you absolutely certain that the security system is part of
the CD-player? Some Hondas have that setup, but most don't. You implied
that you have an Accord, what year?

The '96 - 98 Civic did have the keyless entry system (and the security
system???) integrated into the stereo and on those cars people often
left the old stereo hidden somewhere in the dash (yes, it did fit) when
they installed after-market stereos. That way they would retain the
    keyless entry functions etc.

If your security system really is integrated with the CD player, the
easiest way to get things working with en after-market unit is to also
install an after-market security system. If all you care about is the
keyless entry, http://tinyurl.com/3eb77 can be had for $40.

Why not call Crutchfield and see if one of their AUX adapters fits your
player? I've been thinking about getting one for my 2003 Civic. The CD
player has a "tape" button, which would might work with an adapter, but I
    haven't checked.
