I drove the resurrected CRX to work today, first outing since getting it
started. Once it warmed up, it wanted to idle around 200 RPM, so it stalled
    unless I heel-and-toed to a stop.

So how does one adjust idle on these? Is it a simple screw, or does the
computer take care of it when everything is right?

Yes, it should be a simple idle speed screw...if you're sure that's
all that's causing the low idle.

Consult a Haynes Repair Manual (Autozone/Pep Boys) for pictures re:
where it is, how to adjust it, etc..

  3. Nah. But a long handle 3mm allen key and the ability to measure "duty cycle"
    is essential.

In that case, I'd be, too, unless you're feeling particularly lucky at
the moment. Didn't know something simple like idle speed was so hard
    to set nowadays.

Well, then the Euro cars are quite different but thought the Honda
would just have a screw. For example, my Nissan (even a later model
than your Honda) has a screw and it IS the idle-speed adjustment, but
    I don't know the Jetta.

Regardless of the car brand/model though, that's why I said to check
the manual...always a good things to do even if one THINKS he knows
    the procedure.

Have had OLDER VWs before and they had idle-speed screws but have not
    seen the newer ones.

Well, I looked last evening and there is no obvious idle screw

    | I have all the docs out at the shop, but when I drove the car home after
    |changing the head, I ran off and left the manuals.
    | I also have a 1987 Jetta. Adjusting the idle by what appears to be the
    usual
    |screw is a definite no-no. You have to go through a specific procedure
    |involving a digital voltmeter and certain herbs, as I recall. My '93 Ford is
    |similar in that you don't just "turn the srew" to set idle. So I'm a little
    |cautious about twistng screws.

    |Thanks for the input
