Someone explain this....

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Nextdaysunbright, Nov 7, 2003.

  1. In todays newspaper:

    '04 Accord LX automatic $18,799
'04 Accord (assuming DX) Leather automatic, a/c $16,988
    '04 Accord DX automatic, a/c $15,988

Now why would anyone choose the LX? Isn't the only big difference, power locks?

Which one would you guys choose?

If it's got leather, then it's probably an EX.

    Engine? Mileage? Condition?

The DX is not trimmed as nice as an LX, and the LX also has roll up windows
and usually, a less expensive radio.

You can't get roll up windows in an Accord any more.

No, it's DX. Leather is probably dealer installed.

    Brand new.

    Do you mean one-touch up?

But is a better radio and some accessories really worth $2K more than a Leather
    equipped one?

No, more. Keyless entry, cruse control, etc. Check them on Honda's web
    site.

    Do you need the extras?

  10. None. I`d go for an EX. The substantial feeling of performance is
built on EX's. LX and DX feels like riding a wagon, very undignified.
    Unless you don't mind.

Usually the EX comes with rear disk brakes, alloy wheel, tighter
    suspensions/springs. Engine/transmission perform differently better.
It's heavier but it's dignified, designed especially for those who
    demand industrial, precision, automobiles.

The LX is always the most bang for the buck. But if you don't mind the absence
of power locks, windows, mirrors, and maybe "fancier" wheel covers and "upgraded"
cloth interior. The DX with leather (yes it's aftermarket) and the cheaper price
    may be for you.
Personally I would only consider the DX trim level if purchasing it for a
company pool car. One that I would not be driving... Or a second car, or for a
    child going off to college.

Go see for yourself which is better for your needs. The DX also has dealer
installed AC as it comes standard w/o it. The LX is the bread and butter
Accord which makes up 75% of its sales. A more competitve everyday price
for an LX is more like $18,500. Even driving all 3 levels (EX, LX, and DX)
provides differences. The EX definitely has a heavier car feel and the DX
transmits the most road noise into the car.

  14. They changed that with the 03 Accord, didn't they? I thought A/C was
now standard across the board. I know that power windows and locks are
standard across the board now (but not mirrors).

But the EX is out of my budget. Dealers want $21K. I believe the only major
option on the EX is a sunroof. Not worth it to me.

Yes, it's dealer installed, but it is to factory specifications with genuine
Honda parts with 3 yr warranty, so I'm not worried about it.

I called them and they said it was the DX with dealer installed leather.

I seriously doubt they'd sell a brand new '04 EX-L for under $17K. If they
were, I'd buy it for sure.

Seems like you are dead set on getting the DX. Why do you need more
advice? Or are you looking for someone to agree with you? Because, most
people are telling you to get the LX.
