Someone know why this Civic Ferio won't sell in North America?

Discussion in 'Civic' started by Terry Donaldson, Dec 7, 2003.

  1. This Civic coupe can go 45mpg max on it's VTEC Ei. With tiny front end and
big roomy seating means that it's pro-human. Driving a car with tiny hood is
safer because of visbility. Strange, they don't sell this Civic in the US.
Can anyone point out why this type of design won't sell in North America?

Maybe the front end is too small, won't do good head on to a semi or SUV...
The website is translated from Japanese. Probably sold only in Japan but,
ships anywhere on special order with some exceptions.

Who says it won't sell in the US? I'll bet it would be the best selling Civic
    if it were brought here.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat. And it'd be pretty stiff competition for
the VW Golf, one would think.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat. And it'd be pretty stiff competition for
Me too. I don't particularly like Civics, but this one would make me change my
mind.... as long as it's priced below the Accord.

The link shows the 5 door Civic Hatchback. If you like the front end you
can get the 3 door hatchback in the US as the Civic Si. It won't get 45
mpg though. The 2 liter iVtec engine has 160 bhp and the gas mileage is
    26 city / 31 highway.

dunno. if they can price it loaded to compete with the scion xA at 13k, and
not have dealers try to jack the price up, theyd stand a chance.

That's because depending the the model, the Si costs as much as, or more,
    than a 4-cyl Accord.

  10. Can anyone point out why this type of design won't sell in North
    America?
Good point the Scion (skee-on, sie-on?) XA's appearance resembles the Golf
TDI and the Matrix, but cost only 13k. The Corollas are quieter than the
Civics on highways, from driving them. But the Civics is much more stable on
the highways compared to the Corollas. I thinks the XA is fun but the Civic
    Ferio seems more functional.
