    Hi,

I'm in the UK and have just purchased a 1998 5 Door Honda Civic Hatchback
(1.4). I want to replace the factory fitted speakers with some after market
ones. I've been informed by Halfords that the size of the front speakers is
17cm (6.5") and the rear speakers are 10cm although a lot of people say they
    are 6" x 9" in size.

Can anyone who has had any experience in replacing speakers in the UK
Civic's help me with these questions:

    - What are the correct size speakers to buy (both front and rear)?
    - Are there are models that are more suitable - I've read reports about
    shallow speakers being needed?
    - The PDF file at the Honda site
    (http://www.honda.co.uk/owner/CivicManual/pdf/23-a175.pdf) shows that the
speakers connect using a 2-P connector. How easy is it to connect this to
after-market speakers or trace back through the body to find the speaker
    wires?

I've yet to remove the panels to get to the speakers as I'd like to have the
speakers ready to go and be sure that they are the correct size and I can
get to the speaker wires first.

    Thanks in advance, Ian
