    Hi all,

I have a squeaky noise when I brake a low speeds (parking lots). This
fits the description on Tegger's faq but my pads are just fine.

The mechanic says the material in the pads could cause the noise.
Rotors and pads were replaced < 3000k, and he says the pads have lots
    left, not running low.

    Any advice?

    thanks in advance,
    vlad

    Are they aftermarket pads?

Have the anti-squeal shims been reinstalled as they should be?

Has there been a tiny dot of approved substance placed on the shims as
    specified in the factory manual?

    Hi Tegger,
yes, they are, they were not installed at a honda dealer.
I have no idea. All I know is that the squeal started after about half
a year. I will print the manual pages and check out with the mechanic.

    thanks,

Keep in mind that ALL disc brakes squeal. The trick is to keep the squeal
    above the point of audibility.

Auto manufacturers spend immense amounts of time and resources developing
brake parts that will work together without noise. Failure to service the
brakes the way the automaker intended is a sure path to eventual noise.

I know lots of people claim to have aftermarket brakes that are as quiet as
the grave, but other than the odd isolated cases (for which there are
TSBs), brake noise is almost universally a phenomenon experienced with
    aftermarket brake parts.
